The Blue Sky Co. is a design, manufacturing and import company,
based in Denver, CO. Our line includes both in-house items, which we produce,
and things we import from Mexico. Everything we sell reflects our long interest
in folk art and ethnic culture.
Our in-house items (switchplates, mousepads, coasters, clocks, bottlecap
jewelry, matchboxes, magnets, t-shirts, totebags, etc.) are decorated with folk images from all
parts of the world, from the camp to cultural icons, with emphasis on Latino
culture. Images we use throughout the line include Posada wood engravings
for Day of the Dead, Frida Kahlo's work, paintings of the Virgin of Guadalupe
and other madonnas, vintage Mexican calendar art, movie posters and Loteria,
Hindu and Buddhist deities, as well as all-American cowboys and Indians and
art history classics.
We are also delighted to make our normal range of products
with images of your choice. Contact us for more info about that.
We have spent 20 years traveling and shopping in Mexico, originally for our retail store,
Manos Folk Art, and now for Blue Sky. Some of the imported folk art that was featured in our shop is
included in our Blue Sky catalog. Tinwork from Oaxaca and San Miguel de Allende
includes a huge array of painted, oxidized and unpainted pieces - hearts,
crosses, milagro plaques, Day of the Dead figures, nichos, frames, switchplates,
and Christmas ornaments. Also in our catalog are Mexican ceramic figures for
Day of the Dead, papel picado, and postcards
with images from Latino artists.
